Project Description
Reaching Smallholder Farmers via Shortwave Radio
In terms of country development, Central African Republic ranks at the bottom or close to the bottom of most global development indices. This is partly due to several post-colonial factors that have inhibited growth, but is more closely tied to the latest conflict, and civil war which has significant religious and political undertones. 2013 saw the strongest outburst of violence and destruction, and the scars exist today on the landscape, the people, and the economy.
FarmersFirst is leveraging a shortwave radio station, thanks to our partners at Water4Good. With the ability to reach up to 1 million listeners across the entire country in the native language, Sango, our program will provide powerful information about the weather to assist in daily planning on and off the field.

By reaching even the most rural and remote communities, FarmersFirst has brought hope to our country as a whole.
